For Marta's 10th birthday, her mother gives her a kitten. Now Marta has to prove that she can be responsible. That has always been challenging for Marta but she is determined to take wonderful care of her new pet.

Marta's mother must go and take care of Grandmother for a few days. Carmen, the housekeeper has agreed to look after Marta until her mother returns.
